| It is very easy to dismiss the City of Gloucester as a dump, and I am guilty of this habbit. I often think that its people are aimless and do not radiate a sense of purpose and the general atmosphere is never one of cheeriness, friendliness and least of all content. With this, it is easy to overlook the other beauty that the place posesses. At the back of EastGate Market there are some ruins, and this is one of the many photographs I have taken of it as part of a development for a larger project in paint and canvas. I have tried to capture the essence of not only the building that the wall used to be a part of, but also the very character of the stones and the actual fireplace which holds memories older than that our own minds can hold, and more deeply than we can record on paper. |

I've never told a lie, and that makes me a liar;
I've never made a bet, but we gamble with desire;
I've never lit a match with intent to start a fire;
But recently the flames are getting out of control.
